The Webster Technique
Chiropractic care is about more than dealing with a backache or neck pain. This medical discipline addresses virtually every aspect of your body’s ability to function effectively. When your spinal column effectively protects the nervous system, by being in alignment, you’ll feel better and have greater mobility. When it’s out of alignment, an imbalance will be created with your ligaments and muscles, and normal body functions will be affected.
Like every medical discipline, there are a number of effective approaches, and one of them is known as the Webster Method. Named for Dr. Larry Webster, the founder of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, it was created as a way to restore healthy pelvic balance and function for pregnant women, as well as increase their comfort during pregnancy and create conditions for safe birth.
The Webster technique balances pelvic muscles and ligaments, reducing torsion in the area. Current research is showing that the Webster Technique can prevent dystocia, a condition where either the fetus is awkwardly positioned, the maternal pelvis is smaller, or the cervix and uterus don’t expand and contract normally.
